Before working with Jessie, movement and me did not have a good relationship

In my youth I was a dancer, a biker, a back-packer, (etc)… but a major car accident & back injury in my early 20’s just sucked all of the joy out of “exercise” for me. I was able to find workouts that helped me rehabilitate my broken back and maintain a manageable weight but it was NOT FUN –it was something I “had to” do to make sure that my clothes continued to fit and I could still function– and I was never able to integrate them into my routine.

Most of the time I tried to move as little as possible (and I even started smoking, partially to dull the back pain) –a habit I abhorred pre-accident.  While I was able to get by, I felt uncomfortable about my new body (resting about 10-15lbs heavier than pre-accident me with chronic old-lady back pain), I hated the smoking habit but couldn’t quit, and I mentally beat myself up for not being able to resume “normal” workout routines. 

After working with Jessie and I now have a MUCH better relationship with movement!

With her “soul play” routines, I was quickly and effortlessly able to able to experience movement in a fun, delicious new way!

The “workouts” didn’t feel like workouts at all but soon I noticed that I was gaining strength in my legs, core, and back. In addition, my pain had decreased by about half, I have kicked the cigarettes, and my clothes fit looser and more comfortably than they have since the accident. (BONUS: I went shopping and was surprised to find that I had gone down to my smallest ever pant size!)

I would absolutely recommend Jessie Lucas to anyone who wants to have a delicious & fun relationship with movement. In addition to being one of the most informed fitness professionals I’ve seen, her compassion and caring personality make getting fit a completely enjoyable and supportive experience.

Before working with Jessie I was eating unhealthy and exercising sporadically.

Jess MerrillWhen I first met Jessie Lucas I was a mess.   Overweight and unhappy, I had completely lost track of my own identity.  

Walking into her class was a huge struggle for me.    I was terrified.  

Jessie instantly put me at ease without even speaking a word.   Right away I knew I was in the right place.  Jessie quickly became a positive force in my life.  

She helped me to realize that my own well being ranked just as highly as that of my children and husband.   She helped me to see how my own positive changes will impact our entire family.   My confidence SOARED.  Before I even saw any physical changes I was feeling like a new person.   I learned to love ME again!!!

I was, and still am, so inspired by Jessie that I found myself going down a road that was WAY outside of my comfort zone.   I signed up for the Zumba® Instructor training.    I am now on my third year as a Zumba® Instructor.  I’ve also moved forward and am teaching many of the specialties Zumba® Fitness offers.  But that’s just the beginning.  I have expanded into the fitness world by becoming AFAA Group Exercise Certified as well as licensing in BarSculpt¯.   

People who come to my classes are comfortable.  They say they feel welcomed and never feel judged.   They also comment on the pure joy and elation that radiates when I am teaching.   These are the qualities that I was so completely drawn into Jessie by.   These are qualities that are a direct result of being at peace with yourself, with allowing yourself to live a life of joy!    Jessie didn’t make me realize these important life lessons.   She, guided me through a process of self discovery and love.  Along the way, I became who I am today and I am forever grateful to her for this.

It would be an injustice also to mention that my body has gone through a significant transformation since that very first day.

Sandy CelauroJessie is a special teacher.  Whether moving with her in an upbeat cardio class, finding serenity in one of her gentle yoga classes, or working through one of her invigorating yoga classes, I have always found her instruction informative and her presence inspiring.  When I told Jessie I was expecting a child,

she went out of her way to show me some modifications that could assist me throughout my pregnancy.  After having my son, I had postpartum depression and anxiety.  It was a dark and scary time, but I continued my exercise program.  Attending Jessie’s classes helped me manage my anxiety, find joy in a moments that were just for me and build confidence.
